Can you believe it’s New Year’s Eve?! 2019, here we go! This year came and went, and I’m grateful for everything that’s happened – both good and bad. I’d love to share a few of my favorite things I’ve received this previous month, now that it’s almost over!
P.S., there are no affiliate links nor am I being sponsored for anything you see below. However, I was gifted a few items for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I will note it explicitly below if it was an item I received for free!
December favorites (not in any order)
David’s Tea 24 More Sleeps Advent Calendar
My boyfriend actually bought this for me and despite it coming around 2 WEEKS INTO DECEMBER, I still love it! The company actually refunded him the money (except for shipping), probably because they shipped it out so late, which was a plus. I haven’t been faithful with opening it every day so I’m still on like Day 12 or 13 but so far I’ve loved every flavor I tried! I’ve had minty, fruity, sweet, and sour flavors – with the minty ones probably being my favorite!
Laneige Good Night Kit
I bought this from YesStyle for about $8 and I think it’s totally worth it. If you aren’t familiar with Laneige, it’s a fairly popular Korean skin care brand. I’ve heard and read a lot of good things about Laneige, so I decided I’d get the trial-size kit before I actually splurged on full sized items (pink tub: lip sleeping mask, purple tub: water sleeping mask for the face, blue pump: eye sleeping mask). I was really surprised about how TINY the entire box was. I’ve attached a size comparison between the kit vs my hairbrush. It was most definitely trial sized, alright. 😂
BOY does it work though!! I have a combination face (oily T-zone, dry patches) and the dry patches get really severe during the winter. It’s been pretty bad this year especially since my go-to moisturizer (Curel, which is an in-shower moisturizer) kind of stopped working! My face got to the point where the dry spots started cracking and getting really red and irritated. I tried taking pictures before I started using the Laneige kit (see pictures above this paragraph) and I apologize if the picture is too small to see. My camera didn’t make it look as bad but my face was REALLY dry and more red in real life! I think I’ve been using it for a good solid two weeks now and I definitely notice that my skin is softer, smoother, and less red (see below for update pics). My lips are also less cracked and dry, and they definitely look more plump too! Apparently, Laneige’s lip sleeping mask (pink tub) was featured in the 2018 Glamour Beauty Awards.
Statement Made Jewellery Heart Necklace
I had the privilege of being a part of Statement Made Jewellery’s 2018 Blogger program. If you’re not aware of them, they’re a UK-based company that specialize in quirky, personalized and handmade jewelry! I knew I was going to be sent a piece from their collection (but nothing specific) and they surprised me with the cute heart necklace!! It’s so simple, dainty, and yet elegant. I’ve had many compliments on in when I wore it out. The company also took care to include directions as to how you should properly care for your jewelry, which was a nice touch! You can check them out HERE if you’re interested in getting something for yourself or a loved one.
Wacom MobileStudio Pro
This was my most hefty priced item on this favorites list, but definitely worth every penny! I got this tablet when Wacom had their $300 discount promotion celebrating their anniversary (I didn’t pay much attention as to whether it was their 30th or 40th anniversary.. I just saw the discount and dove for it 😆). If you didn’t know, I love drawing and it’s one of my favorite hobbies besides blogging or gaming. I have an old tablet but it wasn’t the kind where you could see where you were drawing. You literally draw on a black surface but have to look up to the screen to see what you were doing, which I didn’t like at all. After getting a temporary job, I saved up and went for this baby. I think I paid approximately $2,100 USD for it (eeek!).
It is the most accurate thing I’ve ever drawn on (I’d say the Samsung Galaxy Note smartphones are the next best things, just because I used to own one 😁). I got the 13 inch model (there are 13″ and 15″ models) with the best tech specs inside. I used this tablet to draw the December coloring printables on my blog (click HERE to print them out for yourself!).
I’ve drawn a couple other things on it for myself, as well as some stuff for a blogger friend. I plan on opening a separate Instagram account just for my art portfolio very soon, in which you’ll be able to see some of my artwork! One of my goals for 2019 is to make some money with this tablet and my art skills, either by commission or starting up my own stationary business. We’ll see how far I get with that! ❤
Skylar Sample Perfume Palette
Last but certainly not least, is this lovely Skylar sample perfume palette. I’ve NEVER heard of this brand until my friend told me about it in a text. I love perfume so I definitely wanted to check them out. Skylar aims to keep their perfumes free of 6 things: parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic dyes, animal-derived ingredients, or allergens. In other words, Skylar is a perfume company that promises to be hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly, and cruelty-free. In addition, they donate a portion of their proceeds to Step Up, a non-profit organization that provides mentorship as well as financial aid to underprivileged high school girls across the country.
Skylar was having a special at the time I checked them out where you can try it for free and just pay for shipping. So essentially, I got this sample palette for $6.99. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
Ever since I got my palette and tried the scents out, I’ve stopped using my other perfumes and body sprays I already had and currently only use these. I’m obsessed with all of the scents and definitely think they smell clean and refreshing. My mom has a few friends who have scent / chemical allergies so I’m super happy I can wear these and not have to worry that I’ll end up killing them with these scents! I think it was cool how it came with a little card that also told you how you can combine the scents as well. My current favorites are Capri and Willow!
That’s a wrap for my December favorites, hopefully this month has treated you just as well, if not better! 2019, here we come!!
