What is Fashom?
Fashom is a styling service where professional stylists hand-pick personalized outfits or articles of clothing for you and deliver them right to your door! This company was started by Mitali Saxena, whose goal was to emphasize self-expression and the true style of different individuals. The name of the company was created as a mashup of the word fashion and “om”, which is the sound of meditation.
Fashom’s goal embraces and encourages body positivity and confidence, and offers its service to all in the United States regardless of size, color, shape, etc. They offer apparel and accessories that are only made with sustainable vegan materials. How cool is that?!
Another great thing about the company is that they support Second Chance Rescue NYC! Their mission is to reduce the amount of overpopulated shelters, rescue and rehabilitate critically injured and neglected animals, and secure services that will allow animals to remain in their homes.
Trying a Styling Service For The First Time
I was initially contacted by a lovely woman named Jasmine, who is part of Fashom’s Community Management Team. She was very helpful and responsive to my questions about Fashom and informing as to what Fashom is. I was interested in getting myself signed up, and thankfully I was kindly gifted my first box!
With Fashom, the first styling session is free for all, but you would just need to pay for your first box (only items you keep). Shipping is free, yay!
After I signed up with my email, I was given a questionnaire to fill out. It first asks basic questions like your height, weight, clothing sizes, etc., and then asks you questions where it presents picture options of different jewelry and outfits, color preferences, dislikes, for you to select. After that, you wait for a stylist to work on your request!
Later on, I got an email later on inviting me to schedule a private one-on-one video session with a stylist. With the way it was worded, to my understanding, the video session is not done for every person, but I could be wrong.
My video chat with Josephine took like 5-10 minutes and we went right into the chat where she asked me questions regarding my styling preferences. What kind of pants do I wear (straight, boot cut, etc.), fabrics I like, my sizing, what I’d like to see in my wardrobe, what is something I’d really like to see in the box, and asked if I had any other questions. And that was it!
At the same day as the video chat, I got notified that my outfits are now ready for me to pick! You’ve got 48 hours to pick your outfits or else your stylist will pick 5 random things for you. I got to choose 5 among 9 items, but honestly I wanted to ask for all of them because they all looked so cute. Thanks Morgan, you’re truly a fab stylist!!
After picking my apparel, I was told to expect the package in 12-14 days.
I received my Fashom box 6 days later, which was a pleasant surprise! It came in a plain brown box sealed with the Fashom brand tape. I love cute little details like that ♡
Along with my selected items, I was given a return bag with a return label already on it (so convenient and awesome!), as well as an envelope with the invoice and the steps I would need to take should I want to return anything.
Tiny Star Print dress – SM Wardrobe
I actually got a M even though I’m a small, which surprised me, but they definitely got it right. Size M fit me perfectly! The slip is slightly shorter than the outer, thinner layer, and which I like. I think that makes part of the style and somewhat of an illusion that it’s a shorter dress.
I am in love with the neckline! I’ve only ever owned straight V’s or rounded necklines, so this unique, steeper v neckline definitely grabs your attention.
Multiple Strap V-Neck light blue top – Naked Zebra
This is one of my favorite tops from the bunch. My favorite color is blue so my eyes were immediately drawn to this one when I was unpacking everything.
This beautiful blue top has a scalloped border on the front (just the top, not the bottom) which I think is so pretty. I love that they made two layers of this fabric since it would definitely be see-through with just one layer. Again, the second, inner layer is slightly shorter than the outer one. The string detail in the back is super cute.
Floral Lace Short Sleeve Top – Renee C
The lace details on this top is so beautiful!! I could definitely wear this for a casual outing or to a more formal setting.
Open Back Top – M&G Monogram Paris
I don’t own many (if any) open back tops so this was definitely the most unique article I received from Fashom. Forever ago, I bought these adorable bralettes from Victoria’s Secret from a sale but I have no way of really showing the beautiful lace details … but now I can! This top is cool to the touch, pretty flowy, and has lovely lace detailing in the back.
Minimal Distressed Mid Skinny Jeans – Just USA
I love these jeans so much! I always have a problem with jeans being too long (short people problems), but this one fit me pretty nicely. Granted, there’s some bunched up, extra fabric at the bottom, but honestly the amount is negligible. It fits so well and the jean fabric is nice and soft.
I really enjoyed my very first fashion styling experience with Fashom. I never knew and understood what steps you had to take and what it was like to use a styling service to help you pick out new items for your wardrobe. The clothes picked out for me were so cute and they all feel like great quality. I look forward to wearing them all!
All in all, I would recommend Fashom to anyone out there (US only, sorry!) who wouldn’t mind receiving feedback and recommendations from a professional stylist and is looking to add more to their closet!
Thanks for reading, until next time! ♡
